Ending Solitary Confinement
The Foundation supports organizations and coalitions working toward a more equitable and humane justice system. Current funding priorities include multi-pronged approaches to eliminate the use of solitary confinement, including supporting a national campaign that provides resources to state and local coalitions. Creating a more humane system involves changing the culture within a system that is based on a punishment paradigm into one that returns people home as healthy and valued citizens and neighbors. To that end, the Foundation supports work to change the culture of the system and institutions.
